http://www.clubs.dsu.edu/trojantimes/Oyaka%201892%20small_small.jpgThe Trojan Times has had many names in it's long history at Dakota State University, it beginnings trace back to November of 1892. The paper has one issue per month and was maintained by students of the university.

http://www.clubs.dsu.edu/trojantimes/Eastern%20Staff%201924-25%20small_small.jpgThe next era of the paper began in 1924. DSU, then called Eastern State Normal School, had just finalized its first four year programs, and the Girton house was created and occupied by nursing students who were taking courses at the Madison Community Hospital. Seventeen students and one faculty member created the new student run newspaper at the university, called The Eastern, as part of the journalism class the university offered at the time.

In 1947, the journalism class changed the name of the paper to Eastern Breezes, the title of the paper eventually became The Eastern again until about 1994, when the staff decided that it needed a new name as the university had not been called Eastern State Normal School since 1969. It was then dubbed The Dakota Access, however the title only survived until 2000, when the title was changed once again to it's current name, The Trojan Times, by then Editor-In-Chief, Nick Zachariasen.

In its current rendition, Trojan Times Staff creates and delivers two issues each month (eight issues per semester) delivered in various locations around campus. approximately eight pages long, and offers campus news and other features relevant to college students and the university. The Trojan Times is currently managed and operated by Editor-In-Chief, Samantha Moulton and her staff of talented writers and support staff.
