Football
Number of
Players
-
The
regulation number of players on a
team shall be seven. A team must
field six players within five
minutes of the designated starting
time or the game will be declared
a forfeit.
-
For
coed, a team must field six players
within five minutes of the
designated starting time or the game
will be declared a forfeit. Three of
the players must be women and at
least three women must be on the
playing field at all times.
Length of
Game
-
Each
game shall consist of two eighteen
minute halves (running time) with a
five minute intermission between
halves. The second half may begin
before the five minutes are up upon
agreement of officials and managers.
Each team will be allowed one - 1
minute time-out per game. If a
time-out is called immediately
following a touchdown, the official
clock shall not start until after
the kickoff.

During
tournament play, the clock will be
stopped during the last two minutes
of play for an incomplete pass,
penalty, or out-of-bounds.
Playing
Field
Choice of
Goals
-
The
referee and the captain shall get
together before the game to toss a
coin. The winner of the toss may
elect to kick off, receive, or
choose which goal to defend. When
the winner has made his choice, the
loser is granted the other. At the
start of the second half, the loser
shall have his choice.
General
Playing Rules

Playing
equipment
No cleats of any
kind are allowed during play.
Each
player shall wear two flags on each
hip, uncovered and hanging free.
No extra
padding will be allowed.
Position of Players
Offensive
-
Line
positions - There must be at least
four players on the line of
scrimmage at the start of a play
from scrimmage. Remaining players
may be arranged in any desired
position behind the line of
scrimmage or may line up directly
behind the center in the "T"
position.

The
center shall snap the ball between
his legs.

Downs
In a
series of four downs, the offensive
teams must advance the ball to
designated first down marker
-
Scoring
Touchdown - shall count 6 points.
Safety -
shall count 2 points.
Point
after touchdown - shall count 1
point from three
yards out.
In the
case of a tie game at the end of
regulation play, the following
procedure will be used. The ball
will be set on the
20 yard line.
Toss of coin will be made to
determine the team that has the
first offensive series. Four downs
will be allowed for each team. If
neither team scores, a second series
of 4 downs from the
20 yard line
will be started in the same order as
the first. If neither team scores in
the second series, the game will be
recorded as a tie.
Example:
Determining a winner: If Team A
scores on 2nd down, Team B would
have to score on 1st down to win. If
team B scored on 2nd down, the game
would be tied and go into a 2nd
overtime.

Unsportsmanlike conduct - abusive

Illegal
flag tackling - when a defensive
player pulls a flag off an offensive
player when he does not have the
ball and the offensive player comes
in contact with the ball - play is
blown dead at that spot and penalty
is assessed with an automatic first
down awarded. (explanation - if a
player missing a flag obtains
possession of the ball, play is
blown dead at that spot)
A
penalty against the defense on a
touchdown or point after will
assessed on the following kick off
Contesting a rule by a coach or
captain - that team shall be charged
with a time out. If the team is out
of time outs, an unsportsmanlike
penalty will also be assessed if
ruling is not overturned.
Encroachment - the defense cannot
enter the neutral zone in any way
until the offense hikes the ball.

Suspension Rules - Whenever, in the
judgment of any official, the
following acts are deliberate or
flagrant, the player or players
shall be suspended from the game. A
second violation will result in
suspension from the entire season.
Using
fists, kicking or kneeing
Using
locked hands, elbows or any part of
the forearm or hand except according
to the rule
Tackling
or pushing the ball carrier as in
regulation football
Any
deliberate or flagrant act
Using
any act of unsportsmanlike conduct
including:
any
abusive, insulting, or profane
language directed toward an
official or player
any
acts of unfair play
manager, coaches or others on
the field of play at any time,
without permission, or their
interference of any nature with
the progress of the game
a
substitute or any other person
interfering with a player or any
play while the ball
attempting to substitute a
suspended player results in an
automatic team forfeit and
further disciplinary action by
the Director of Intramurals

PENALTY: 15 YARDS - OFFENDERS
SHALL BE DISQUALIFIED AND MUST
COME BEFORE THE INTRAMURAL
DIRECTOR BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO
PARTICIPATE IN THAT ACTIVITY
AGAIN
Swearing
- 15 yards and 10 minute suspension
from game. A second swearing
violation during the season will
result in immediate suspension from
the game plus two additional games.
A third swearing violation will
result in suspension for the
remainder of the season.
Dead Ball
-
The ball
is considered dead when it has
touched the ground (except kick off
or punts). When the ball touches the
ground on the snap back from the
center, it shall result in a loss of
the down and shall be played on the
next series from that point, where
the ball struck the ground.
