March Meeting Minutes
March 14, 2000
President Bruinsma called the March meeting of the Health Information Management Club to order at 12:15 in the Hideaway. Being a noon meeting, lunch was delivered from the Pizza Ranch for eleven members and three advisors.
Tracy Dekker gave the Treasurer’s Report, income from the previous month included: $50 for SDHIMA Newsletter, $10 Dues, and $12 Candy Grams. Expenses were $16.50 for the door prize.
Old Business included a report from Erica Moller about the spring blood drive. She was informed that all of the dates are full but they will contact her if any cancellations are made. Candy Grams were delivered for Valentines Day; there was a net loss of $15 on the project. The Adopt-A-Highway project was discussed with the clean-up date being set for April 18, Rachel Tschetter is in charge of making the arrangements. The Sioux Empire Health Fair is scheduled for April 14-15, if you are interested in helping; there is a sign up sheet across from Dorine’s office.
New Business discussed was the End of Year Banquet, Erica Moller and Karen Anderson volunteered to organize the function, the date was set for Tuesday April 25. The State Health Information Management Association is holding their spring meeting in Chamberlin, May 4-5, if you are interested in attending there is a sign up sheet by Dorine’s office. Funds will be donated from the club to help defray expenses. The club trip is planned for Friday April 28 with a schedule of VA Hospital tour, Veterinary Medical Records Department tour at the Great Plains Zoo and a meal at a nice restaurant. Members were reminded of the Women’s Day Convention being held on campus, a sign up sheet was circulated for those wanting to attend the luncheon and the club paid the cost. We accepted a fundraising project from SDHIMA; Tracy Dekker, Lynn Breiter and Sara Dreyer will be editing a mailing list for the organization.
The April meeting was set for April 18 with the Adopt-A-Highway project beginning at 4pm followed by pizza and a meeting at Pizza Ranch. Jessica Rhoades was the winner of the $17 door prize.
