The HIM Club met on January 19, 2000 in Sneakers in the lower level of the TC. 

The meeting was called to order and new business was discussed.  Sioux Valley Hospital has contacted the HIM club to see if it would be interested in doing a project there on the weekend of Feb. 12-13.  A sign-up sheet will be going around in the HIM classes and will be posted outside of the HIM office in the Kennedy Center.  Please sign-up as this is a great fund-raiser for the club, and also a great way to meet current professionals in the HIM field. 

The Board of Regents Award is due at the end of February.  More information on this at the next meeting.

Erica Moller volunteered to contact the Sioux Falls Blood Bank to find out what dates are available to hold our Spring blood drive.  She will report on this at the next meeting.

A Club Trip was discussed.  If you have any suggestions on where to go, please contact one of the officers.  It could be a one day trip, or a whole weekend.  We just need some ideas and some people willing to help plan it. 

A movie night for the club members was discussed.  Melissa Bruinsma will contact the movie theatre before the next meeting and report on what movies are playing in Feb. and the cost. 

It was decided that a door prize should be given away at the next meeting.

Addendum:

In the minutes I forgot to mention that we discussed having a Valentine's Day fundraiser.  We thought about doing candygrams (Cards with suckers or a piece of chocolate).  These candygrams could be delivered to teachers and students who are living in the dorms.  Students will be needed to sell these candygrams on the Thursday and Friday before Valentine's day, and maybe even Monday (Valentine's day).  You would just need to sit at a table in the TC and collect the money from students, they would write on the cards, and you would take the cards back.  The cards would be delivered with candy to the appropriate students on Monday. 

If you have any other suggestions, they are welcomed!!!  This will be discussed in further detail at the Feb. meeting.
