September 19, 2001	DSU Activities Fair	Visitors could guess the number of bandaids in a jar to get a piece of candy.  Then we donated the bandaids to the local HeadStart Program.
September 19 - 21, 2001	SDHIMA meeting in Sioux Falls	Several HIM students attended this interesting convention.
October 6, 2001	Homecoming	The theme of Homecoming was DSU Flashback -- Glimpses from the Past.  We made a float decorated as a sock hop.
October 10, 2001	Wellness Fair	We checked the height and weight of participants.  "Mini" medical records were provided to everyone to record results of their health tests.
October 13-18, 2001	AHIMA Convention	DSU HIM Club donated a DSU shirt to be used as a door prize at the Student Forum at the national convention in Anaheim.
October 13, 1999	Adopt-A-Highway	Members picked up litter from a section of Highway 19 by Lake Madison and then enjoyed pizza!
November 4-10, 2001	National Health Information and Technology Week	The Club had lots of activities -- donuts and hot chocolate on Monday, Blood Drive on Tuesday, Nachos, Cake and a Movie on Thursday, and Unveiling the Wall of Fame on Friday.  We also had  the Question of the Day in the Marketplace with prizes for each day.  HIM students' names were also drawn to be awarded a variety of prizes.
November 6, 2001	Blood Drive	Wow!  Our blood drive resulted in 53 pints of blood being donated.
December 5, 2001	Majors Fair	DSU held a Majors Fair in The Underground (lower level of the Trojan Center).  Current and prospective students could visit with representatives from different areas on campus to learn more about the majors offered here.
December 12, 2001	Christmas Party	The annual Christmas Party was held.  We had a potluck supper with gifts and games too.  The new officers for 2002 were elected.  Congratulations to Jennifer Horstman, Stacy Smidt, Melinda Alfson, Jill Degen, Mandy Miedema, and Jacque Miller!
April 4 -6, 2002	Club trip to Omaha, NE	Several members of the HIM Club and two advisors traveled to Omaha, Nebraska.  We toured the health information management departments of two hospitals and the Lied Transplant Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  It was very interesting!  We also found some time for dining and shopping; and we also went to The Comedy Club and the Omaha Zoo.
April 5-6, 2002	Empire Mall Health Fair	SDHIMA and DSU HIM Programs had a booth at the annual Health Fair in the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls.  We had a couple of fun quizzes for visitors to do and handed out information about health information management and the HIM profession.
April 18 and 19, 2002	SDHIMA Convention	The Spring South Dakota Health Information Management Association meeting was held in Watertown, SD.  There were several interesting sessions, and we got to play HIM Jeopardy -- we did pretty good!!
April 23, 2002	Blood Drive	The blood mobile was back on campus -- we do a good job of encouraging donations!
April 25, 2002	End of the Year Banquet	The HIM Club had the end of the year banquet at The Lakes Golf Course by Lake Madison.  The food was good!  Dawn Reinicke, RHIA, Director of Medical Records and Admissions at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls was our keynote speaker.  We gave participation awards to HIM Club members and gifts to the graduates.
April 27, 2002	Project at Howard, SD	A group of students went to a clinic in Howard, SD to work on a project for them.  We worked on organizing their medical records.  It was interesting and fun -- plus the HIM Club received a donation to reward us for our time!
April 30, 2002	Adopt-A-Highway	The litter never stops!  We spent some time in picking up litter along Highway 19 near Lake Madison -- then we treated the workers to pizza buffet at The Pizza Ranch.
