Section 1. The name of this organization shall be Campus Girl Scouts of Dakota State University.
Article
II. Affiliation with Other Groups
Section
1. The Campus Girl Scouts of Dakota State University shall be members of the
Girl Scouts of Minn-Ia-Kota, and Girl Scouts of the United States of America.
Section 2. The Campus Girl Scouts of Dakota State University shall be students or employees of Dakota State University.
Section
1. The purpose of this organization shall be to encourage and promote the values
and ideals of Girl Scouting while serving the college campus and surrounding
community. We shall also provide opportunities for growth and leadership.
Section
2. We shall support the Girl Scout Promise and Law as follows: On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The
Law

will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and
to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
Section
3. We shall support the following program goals of the Girl Scout movement:
1.
Develop to her full individual potential.
2.
Relating to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect.
3.
Develop values to guide her actions and to provide the foundation for
sound decision-making.
4. Contributing to the improvement of society through the use of her abilities and leadership skills, working in cooperation with others.
Section
1. Membership is open to any full-time or part-time Dakota State University
student, faculty or staff member who meets the following requirements:
1.
Members are (or will be) registered Girl Scouts.
2.
Members must uphold the principles stated in the aforementioned Purpose
in addition to those in the Girl Scout Law and Promise.
3.
Members must be willing to give freely of their time to participate in
activities sponsored or organized by Campus Girls Scouts.
Section
2. Membership shall be open to Dakota State University students, faculty, or
staff of any race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, gender
(males must be eighteen years of age or older, as specified by GSUSA), physical
or learning ability, and sexual preference. No previous membership in Girl
Scouting is required. Any person seeking membership who is not yet a registered
Girl Scout shall be considered a candidate for membership. At no time will a
pledge or initiation period be required of any person seeking membership in
Campus Girl Scouts.
Section 3. Any member may vote on group decisions.
Article
V. Officers, Duties, and Elections
Section
1. Campus Girl Scouts shall have the following individual offices: President,
Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Historian. They shall be elected by a
majority vote of all members. A person may hold the same office more than once
if elected.
Section
2. The duties of the President shall be:
1.
To preside over all meetings.
2.
To propose activities and fundraisers for the group to participate in.
3.
To appoint/nominate committees as necessary.
4.
To be the contact for the National Girl Scout Headquarters and the Girl
Scouts of Minn-Ia-Kota Council.
5.
To renew the annual charter for the National Girl Scout Headquarters by
completing the Campus Girl Scout Application Form and Certification Statement.
Section
3. The duties of the Vice President shall be:
1.
To act as President in the President’s absence.
2.
To maintain contact with other groups on campus.
3.
To set up and maintain the group’s website.
4.
To check and care for the group’s email.
Section
3. The duties of the Treasurer shall be:
1.
To collect all money for deposit belonging to the organization in a
timely, appropriate, and ethical manner.
2.
To report on the group's financial status when asked by any member .
3.
To provide a financial report to the University monthly.
4.
To provide a complete financial report at the final meeting of each
school year.
Section
4. The duties of the Secretary shall be:
1.
To submit required reports to Student Association Senate, University,
National Girl Scout Headquarters, and Minn-Ia-Kota council as necessary.
2.
To send out reminders for meetings.
3.
To prepare minutes for all meetings.
4.
To write and send all thank-you notes as appropriate.
Section
5. The duties of the Historian shall be:
1.
To assure that signs are posted around campus to inform the campus
community of group activities.
2.
To take pictures at all group activities.
3.
To maintain a scrapbook of group activities.
4.
To create the Campus Girl Scout page for the Yearbook.
Section
6. The Advisor to Campus Girl Scouts shall be an employee of Dakota State
University who upholds and promotes the values and ideas of the worldwide
movement of Girl Scouting/Girl Guiding.
Section
7. The Council Liaison to Campus
Girl Scouts shall be appointed by the Girl Scouts of Minn-Ia-Kota Council.
Section 8. In the event of a spot on the Executive Council being empty, the other officers shall cover those duties.
Section
1. Registration dues shall be determined by the National Girl Scout Headquarters
and the Girl Scouts of Minn-Ia-Kota Council. Registration shall take place every
fall or as determined by the Minn-Ia-Kota Council.
Section 2. Membership dues for Campus Girl Scouts shall be determined by the Executive Council.
Section
1. The Officers shall determine the date, time, and place of any regular
meeting.
Section
2. Meetings shall be held at least once a month when school is in session. A
quorum to vote shall be one more than half of the current members of Campus Girl
Scouts.
Section
3. The Officers may meet at least once a month separate from general meetings.
Section
4. Special meetings may be called prior to service projects and fundraising
activities as necessary, but members must be notified at least 48 hours in
advance.
Article
VIII. Emblems and Insignia
Section
1. The troop emblems and insignia shall be the emblems and insignia of the
national organization. All official Girl Scout insignia deemed proper for Campus
Girl Scouts by the National Girl Scout Headquarters may be displayed or worn by
any member.
Section
2. Wearing of the Girl Scout Pin, the World Trefoil Pin and the Campus Girl
Scout Guard is encouraged at all times and required at official functions
excluding meetings.
Section
3. Optional insignia includes the GSUSA ID Strip, the Minn-Ia-Kota (or member's
registered home Council) ID Strip, the Adult Insignia Tab, the Troop Crest, the
Membership Numeral Guard (if earned), applicable Adult Position Pins, and the
Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award (if earned).
Article
IX. Amendments and Bylaws
Section
1. All amendments must be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the
National Girl Scout Headquarters and this Constitution.
Section
2. Amendments to this constitution must be submitted in writing to all members
at a regular meeting and shall be voted on at the next regular meeting by all
members . A two-thirds vote of all members is required to adopt amendments.
