I'm pro-choice, pro-affirmative action, pro-environment and pro-labor. I was either going to be the loneliest Republican in America or I was going to be a happy Democrat.

DSU College Democrats

The purpose of this group is to promote the principles of the Democrat Party, recruit DSU students as members, aid in the election of Democrat candidates at all levels of government, to develop political and leadership skills, to educate on local and national issues, and politics in general.  The College Democrats meet once a month on a normal year and twice a month from September to November during an election year.  There is a monthly meeting with the South Dakota Federation of College Democrats and we are also a chapter of the National College Democrats. The requirements for being a DSU Democrat is that you are a Dakota State Student.  Members from the community and Madison High School are also invited to attend our activities but are unofficial according to the university.  What we'd like to see from our members is a commitment of some sort to be somewhat active politically in the upcoming elections. You can both campaign and be in this club if you would like.  Some events that this club could/has done in the past include voter registration, tabling on issues such as the War in Iraq and Abstinence, movie nights, canvassing, debates, blogging, and hosting candidates.  I currently have this group on Facebook so feel free to add yourself.
