Delta Mu Delta Fall Meeting

Members Present: April Fernau, Samantha Kangas, Kyle Konopasek, Mark Schmidt, Jacob Gappa, Robin Grinager, Bobbi Jo Mulder,  Elizabeth VanHove, and Lynette Molstad

 

 

  • Kyle called the meeting to order
  • No changes or additions to the agenda
  • Roll was taken
  • Minutes from the previous meeting were not discussed since they are on the web.  If interested, the minutes are on the web.
  • Announced that members are required to pay a $3 due per semester
  • Steve Bartel informed Lynette that $80 was transferred into our on-campus account. 
  • We do have an off-campus account located here in town also, which has a current balance of $142.  Total balance comes to $222.
  • Kyle represented DMD at the activities far.   He reported that not many came to the table, simply because we are an invitation organization, but some students picked up brochures.
  • Discussed the qualifications to receive the Certificate of Merit:  Must perform six to seven activities per semester.  A profile needs to be filled out on each activity when completed.  DMD focuses on service-oriented activities. 
  • Lynette briefly listed some of the past activities the organization has performed some of which include the bulletin board and website, angel tree, Christmas tree in BIS, helpline, Thanksgiving faculty appreciation, and food pantry.  A new activity for this fall would include a donation to the FBLA fall conference if voted and passed by members.
  • Assigning of Activities:

·        Christmas Tree in BIS:  Jake, Robin, and Mark; Put up the first week in December

·        Thanksgiving Faculty Appreciation: Sammy, April, and Lynette; November 24th, provide treats

·        Helpline/Food Pantry: Everyone; Box set out in East 106 and East 210 to bring items such as canned goods, toiletries, etc…, Lynette will send an email reminding everyone of this.

·        Angel Tree: Elizabeth, and Kylene; go to Gary’s Bakery or Pamida; look for a reasonable gift-- $20 limit.  Buy a gift around the first of December, but sooner if possible.  Bring a receipt to Molstad and wrap the gift.

·        FBLA Conference: Jake moved to donate $10, April 2nd ; motion passed and $10 will be donated to PBL for the conference.

  • Discussion of spring activities will be the next meeting held next semester, tentatively planned for the first week in February.  We will plan the spring banquet.  Everyone needs to be thinking about possible candidates for the honorary member and speaker at the banquet.  Previous members are listed in last year’s banquet program, or on the website.
  • Applications are due March 1st for DMD Scholarships.  You must be a returning student next year.  Possible scholarship amounts are $1000, $600, and $500.  References will be needed for the application.
  • Everyone is encouraged to persuade more members to attend the next meeting.
  • Jake motioned to adjourn the meeting, Elizabeth 2nd it; meeting was adjourned at 12:30.
