Spring Meeting Minutes

February 5, 2007

                                                                             

 

The meeting was called to order by President Andrea Lindberg at 12:10 p.m..  The agenda was approved. Treasurer, Maria Pedersen, filling in for Secretary Scarlett Hahn, took attendance with 8 current members and 6 potential members in attendance and reported that the minutes from the last meeting are posted on the DMD webpage at http://www.clubs.dsu.edu/dmd.  Treasurer Maria Pedersen reported that DMD has $123 in the off-campus account and $38 in the vending account. Members are to pay their dues of $6.00 to Maria Pedersen or Lynette Molstad if they have not done so already. Dues are $6 for the year or $3 for members graduating in December, 2006.                                                                                                          

 

Unfinished Business:  DMD will not sponsor a booth at the Activities Fair since freshman cannot join Delta Mu Delta. We are working to become a Star Chapter. To accomplish this goal DMD will need to induct 15 new members at the April 19th Initiation and Awards Banquet. At least one member of DMD must apply for a scholarship by March 1, 2007 as a final requirement.

 

New Business:  Activities for the spring semester include the following:

 

1.          Spring Meeting:  Monday, February 5, 2007 with 8 current members and 6 potential members present and refreshments served.

2.          Faculty Appreciation Friday February 16, 2007: Refreshments will be furnished to the BIS faculty and staff. Dave Wiederich, Maria Pedersen, Kelsey Cotton, and Sandra Smith donating treats.

3.          Women’s Day Conference: Mrs. Rounds has been invited to be the key-note speaker at the Women’s Day Conference held in the Mundt Foundation on March 28, 2007. Individuals introducing speakers will be Dave Wiederich at 1:00, Laura Smith at 2:00, and Sandra Smith at 3:00 (tentatively).

4.          Food Pantry:  The food pantry drive will go from April 1 to April 13.  Members can drop off non-perishable food items for the Food Panty at the meeting on April 11, 2007 or anytime before the meeting in East Hall 210.

5.          Prom Donation: Discussion was held regarding the annual donation to the Madison High School After Prom Committee. If we, as a service club, need additional merit activities we will give a donation to the Madison High School.

6.          Spring Installation Banquet: The banquet to initiate new members and officers will be held April 19, 2007 at Nicky’s with social hour beginning at 6:30 and dinner to be served at 7:00.

 

Activities for spring semester include the following:

Valentines Faculty Appreciation:  February 16, 2007

Women’s Day Conference:  March 28, 2007
Food Pantry:  April 11, 2007

Spring Banquet:  April 19, 2007        

 

The next business meeting to elect officers for the 07-08 school year will be April 11, 2007.

                       

Initiation and Awards Banquet will be held on April 19, 2007.  The banquet will be held at Nicky’s supper club.

 

Many Delta Mu Delta scholarships are available.  The application form is on the national website at http://www.deltamudelta.org and the deadline is March 1, 2007.  Only members with 64 credits on January 1 are eligible to apply for Delta Mu Delta scholarships.
